Frequently Asked Questions

What food can I warm in the Meke Go-Box?

The Go-Box is designed to warm any pre-cooked meal for babies, kids, or adults. From purees and toddler-friendly meals to leftovers, rice bowls, and soups, it heats food evenly and thoroughly, no microwave needed.

Recommended Foods:

  • Cooked rice, pasta, noodles
  • Vegetables
  • Stir-fries, curries, casseroles
  • Soups and stews

Note: This product is not designed to cook raw food. All proteins must be fully cooked before reheating.

Can I use it in the car?

You sure can! Just not while it’s charging.

Charging: The Meke Go-Box charges via USB-C, so if you’ve got the right car adaptor, you can top it up while you drive.

Eating: The Go-Box is  perfect for road trips, work sites, or anyone who eats on the go. Whether you're parked at the beach, on your lunch break between jobs, or eating in the car during a long day out, it means a hot, proper meal is always within reach.

Do I need to add in anything before warming my food?

Not at all! Just remove the ice pack if you’ve been using one to keep your food cool, open the relief valve, re-secure the lid, then double press the power button and your meal will warm up perfectly every time.

Can I use it in an aeroplane?

Yes, you can use the Meke Go-Box onboard during flights, but it must be carried in your hand luggage. It’s generally allowed on planes in Australia, though it’s a good idea to check with your specific airline beforehand, as rules can vary between carriers.

How long does it take to warm lunch?

Warming times can vary depending on how much food you have and its density. Typically, it takes between 10 and 25 minutes to heat your meal to the right temperature. Here are some target serving temperatures to guide you:

  • Meat & Poultry: 70–75°C (must be steaming hot throughout)
  • Rice / Pasta: 60–70°C (stir before eating)
  • Vegetables: 60–70°C (cut into smaller pieces)
  • Soups & Stews: 65–75°C (stir well and check consistency)
  • Toddler / Child Meals: 40–50°C (test before serving)

We recommend turning on your Meke Go-Box 20 minutes  before you want to eat.

Can I prep meals in advance?

Absolutely! The stainless steel lunch tins are fridge and freezer safe, making them perfect for meal prep. You can prepare your meals right in the tins, stack them in the fridge, and when it’s time to eat, simply swap in your prepped lunch and go. Just be sure to defrost frozen meals before warming in the Go-Box, as it’s designed to reheat fully cooked food and not cook raw ingredients. It’s quick, effortless, and a great way to enjoy stress-free meals every day.

Is it safe for baby and toddler meals?

Absolutely! The Meke Go-Box is designed with families in mind. It gently and safely warms meals for babies and toddlers. Since heating times and food amounts can affect temperature, we recommend stirring the food and  testing the food by eating or placing it on your wrist  before serving to make sure it’s just right for your little one. If you have a food thermometer, this can also be used to ensure the temperature is perfect. Here are our recommended serving temperatures to help guide you:

  • Meat & Poultry: 70–75°C (must be steaming hot throughout)
  • Rice / Pasta: 60–70°C (stir before eating)
  • Vegetables: 60–70°C (cut into smaller pieces)
  • Soups & Stews: 65–75°C (stir well and check consistency)

Toddler / Child Meals: 40–50°C (test before serving)

Can it heat frozen meals?

The Meke Go-Box is designed to only reheat fully cooked meals. Frozen meals need to be thawed before warming and the ingredients need to have been previously fully cooked before they were frozen (eg. no defrosted raw ingredients like meat or fish). The Go-Box is not made to cook raw or frozen food directly. However, it will warm your pre-cooked, defrosted meals to perfection.

How much food does it hold?

Each Meke Go-Box comes with a 1-litre stainless steel lunch tin, perfect for a full meal. You can add as little food as you like, depending on your appetite or who's eating (great for both adults and little ones!), but be sure not to overfill the container to ensure safe and even heating.

How long does the battery last?

The Meke Go-Box battery lasts around 75 minutes of continuous heating, give or take 5 minutes. Depending on what you’re warming and how full the 1-litre lunch tin is. For larger meals you can usually get 2 meals warmed and this may extend to 3 for smaller toddler sized meals.

What is the Meke Go-box made of?

The Meke Go-Box is built to last and made with your family’s safety in mind.

Lunch Tin: The lunch tins are made from 100% food-grade stainless steel, with no BPA, no microplastics. Just safe, high-quality materials where it matters most.

Box Lid and Divider: high-quality, food-safe and BPA-free ABS / PP

Relief valve: Food-safe silicone

Can I heat up more than one lunch in the same Meke Go-Box?

The Meke Go-Box is designed to warm one lunch tin at a time. Once your meal is warmed, you will need to allow the tin to cool before you can swap in another tin and warm your next meal.

Is it leak-proof?

The Meke Go-Box is 100% leak-proof, even with soups, stews, or purees. Its secure lid and airtight outer shell mean you can toss it in your bag without worrying about spills or messes on the go.

Is it dishwasher safe?

The stainless steel lunch tin is dishwasher safe, but you can also choose to hand wash this with warm soapy water and a mild detergent.

The control unit (the warmer base and outer lid) is not dishwasher safe. Simply wipe its outer surfaces and control panel with a damp cloth. Never immerse the control unit or power port in water.

Is the Meke Go-Box oven safe?

Yes! The stainless steel lunch tins are oven safe, so you can bake food like baked eggs or pancake bakes straight into them. Just be sure the tins are completely cold before placing them into the Go-Box control unit.  The control unit is not oven safe and can’t handle hot tins.
