How does the Mekė Chiller Bag help keep breastmilk cold?

The insulated bag works with the supplied frozen ice packs to help maintain a cool environment while you’re away from refrigeration. For best results, fully freeze the ice packs and position them around your milk pouches.

How long will my breastmilk stay cold?

Cooling time will vary depending on the milk’s starting temperature, the outside temperature, how completely the ice packs are frozen, how full the bag is and how often it is opened. We shouldn’t promise “up to 24 hours” until Mekė has confirmed this through product testing.

What temperature should breastmilk be kept at?

Freshly expressed breastmilk should be kept at 5°C or lower where possible. Once you reach your destination, transfer the milk to a refrigerator or freezer as soon as possible. Current Australian guidance states that freshly expressed breastmilk can be refrigerated at 5°C or lower for no more than 72 hours. Pregnancy, Birth and Baby

How should I pack the bag?

Start with chilled breastmilk and fully frozen ice packs. Place your sealed milk pouches inside the bag and arrange the ice packs around them. Close the bag securely and avoid opening it unnecessarily while travelling.

Can I use the Chiller Bag when pumping at work or travelling?

Yes. It has been designed to make transporting expressed breastmilk easier when you’re away from home, whether you’re pumping at work, travelling or heading out with your baby.
